I was looking through my junk mail again, fishing out the stuff my super smart computer decided I didn’t need, and I found an email from someone I haven’t seen in a while…Cathryn Schultz. I don’t remember ever meeting Cathryn, but she said in the subject line, “hello Larry H, we used to go school together.”
I Googled “Cathryn Schultz” and this is what I found, so I guess she’s one of these people. I still don’t totally recognize her, but I’ve never known Google to lead me astray.
Apparently she works for HesterraidLadd, which I’m told is a very reputable company according to Cathryn. I guess she’s in sales now, because she’s trying to sell me watches. I think she sells really high-end watches, because her email said the watches would make me smarter. In fact, if I wore one, all of a sudden I’d know everything about time:
Buy the Patek Philippe watch and know everything about time!
Jaeger-LeCoultre replica watch…luxury isn’t a sin.
I wish I could afford to buy one.
Sorry Cathryn, best of luck.

I’ve been alluding to it for long enough. I’ve finally taken that step of faith. Enjoy this little teaser while I prep the home documentary for tomorrow. (If you’re wondering who the strange woman eating ice cream in the background is…it’s my stylist/Communications Director, Ms. Meredith. She and her husband Mack are responsible for any derogatory thoughts you may have about my hair.)
Adios.

For those of you with kids, I’m sure you’ve had an experience at some point where you felt like you lost one of your kids while at a store or a restaurant or someplace else. Or maybe you’re such a great parent you’ve never let your child out of your sight…ever.
If it’s ever happened to you, even for just a couple seconds, you know the feeling you get in your stomach for those 2 seconds while you’re looking around until you discover Audrey is under the table being a squirrel, not that that’s ever happened.
Anyways, I ran across this video tonight and it made me feel better about my parenting skills. Even though I feel better for all the wrong reasons, at least this has never happened to me, or probably any of us.
Check it out, click it.

What a day! It will get posted about all week by the Elevation Crew, but let me just say what happened today makes me feel like this Fall is going to be like nothing any of us have ever experienced.
If you’re along for the ride, hold on for the next couple months and write down everything you can. God will use this time in the future to remind us how good He is, especially when things aren’t moving quite as fast.
Be encouraged, the best is ahead of us.

From another guy with black glasses..
Here’s what a Creative Pastor and an Executive Pastor have in common:
- a love for 80’s music
- cool wives
- an admiration of early 90’s baseball cards
- carnivores
- multi-cultural
- poor eyesight
- athletic prowess
- ability to do Chinese arithmetic
Hu-You shouldn’t leave your computer unattended and logged on to your blog.

You might as well get used to hearing about this one if you’re riding the Elevation Blog Train. Anyone even remotely connected to Elevation Church with a blog better be thanking God for how He shows up big all the time, especially today.
All I have to say is…
…more than 600 baptisms today!
God is still good. Always has been. Always will be.

My office is in the process of getting a facelift.
It happened because someone very close to me made this kind of comment to me…
“Your office sucks. If you’re going to be the Creative Pastor, it should feel like you’re the Creative Pastor. This office should represent you better than this. This office should force anyone who walks in to raise their game.”
All true.
Here’s what I decided to do. I’ve painted everything white, ordered all white furniture, added red accents, installed hardwood laminates and had this piece made for my back wall.
Welcome to my new office…

Topic: The Ragin’ Uptown
Song: Everybody’s Working for the Weekend by Loverboy
Go.
I saw this thing this weekend…

It’s the Ragin’ Uptown party bus, or one of the buses in their fleet. Almost couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the tagline: Party without a conscience. I was at a gas station when I saw it make, what I’m guess is a routine stop, at the local ABC liquor store and the mustache-clad post-grads ran off.
I don’t know a whole lot about the Ragin’ Uptown machine, but I do know it’s pretty popular with the college kids…and the ones out of college who still live it up like Frank the Tank.
Bottom line, you pay to party in style, by getting picked up, dropped off and/or toured around to the hottest spots in town. All with the assistance of a friendly bottle of whatever you’d like, allegedly. What could be better?
Actually, I can think of lots of things that could be better, but I’m not their target audience, so my opinion doesn’t count.
What if there was a Ragin’ Uptown Bus for dads? It would be fitted with captain’s chairs, remotes, great food and laptops. We’d stop by Bobcats Arena or Panther Stadium, stop by the Apple store, finish up at some place like Morton’s and call it a day.
I guess the name wouldn’t be the Ragin’ Uptown at that point. Probably something more like the Casually Active Suburban Bus Tour. Not nearly as catchy, no wonder it hasn’t caught on yet.
Adios.

John, Wade and I preached on Sunday and here are some thoughts:
1. Pastor Steven is a robot to preach 4 times every Sunday. It’s hard to do, and I only had to do it for about 15 minutes each time.
2. I like the intensity right before walking out on stage.
3. It’s hard to preach with bright lights in your face.
4. Green rooms are awesome.
5. People are nice to you when you preach.
6. I’m terrible at memorizing things.
7. I like going first when speaking in a group.
8. My stomach goes a little crazy when I’m about to preach.
9. I can’t remember how many kids I have.
10. I’d do it again.

I don’t know what to say, but tonight Kelly opened up the back door around 11pm and there were 3 random dogs chillin’ there. Nothing violent or malicious going on, just hanging out by the back door.
What was even crazier? One of them started talking like Eddie Murphy and telling jokes.
Long live Dr. Doolittle…
